Does Midland Concrete Products sell cinder block?
We sell concrete masonry units (CMUs) which are made using sand / gravel and are much denser and stronger than cinder blocks and are used for modern structural walls. You can find a wide range of sizes and shapes here.

Should I use mulch or landscape rock in my landscaping?
That can depend on what style and solution you're looking for. Mulch and rock serve similar but different purposes. You should use mulch if you're concerned about temperature control and a lower up-front cost. If you're looking for a longer-term low maintenance solution, landscape rock is a good solution for a clean and modern look. We offer mulch and rock in many colors and sizes and in bag and bulk. You can learn more here.

How do I install retaining wall block?
The size of the project and the intended use of the retaining wall can influence the installation method required. Our team has extensive experience with retaining wall projects and can help guide you in selecting the right approach and materials to ensure a durable, long-lasting result.

How do I cut retaining wall block?
At Midland Concrete Products, we recommend using a diamond blade or a blade designed to cut through concrete. We also offer The Krack Hog that is made to splitprecast pavers, blocks, and brick with a simple pump-action foot pedal. I've included a few links below:
-Diamond Blades
-Q Drive Blades
-Krack Splitter/Hog

What base should I use when laying pavers?
Because of the freeze thaw cycles that we go through in our climate, a properly compacted aggregate base is very important. There are two different types of rock that work well. Traditionally, a crushed limestone such as a 3/4" minus/roadstone with a bedding layer of coarse concrete sand was used and still is a good method today. Many contractors have shifted over the last several years towards using an 'open graded' base of 3/4" or 1" clean angular base, with a bedding layer of 3/8" clean limestone chips. Regardless of which method is used, 6-8" of well compacted rock with an 1" or less bedding layer is recommended depending on the stability of the soil.
