How long have you worked at Midland?
I've been here since 2019 after a nearly 20 year career as a landscape designer.
What are your primary responsibilities day-to-day?
I get to work with contractors, homeowners, architects and engineers to help select the best markets in order to create a successful outdoor project. It's fun to be a part of the process from concept to completion.
What’s your favorite part about working at Midland?
Without a doubt, the wonderful team of knowledgeable colleagues I get to work with on a daily basis.
What is one of your favorite products sold by Midland?
Landscaping lighting! It is amazing to see just how much this one simple feature can dramatically transform a landscape. Landscape lighting provides safety and security, enhances the natural beauty of stone and plantings, and extends the use of your outdoor spaces well beyond sunset. Plus, the new LED low-voltage fixtures are extremely energy efficient and low maintenance.
What’s one of the most memorable projects you’ve worked on while at Midland?
A very large and impressive Redi-Rock project on a very steep embankment on Clear Lake. The first time I visited the jobsite, the foreman explained I would have to ‘walk the plank’ to get there. As I cautiously tiptoed across the 12-foot long board, hovering ten feet above open water, I wondered what in the world I was doing! But as soon as I caught view of the massive Lego blocks being installed, all by equipment, I was simply amazed.
If you were an animal, what would you be?
A bird so I could soar across the area enjoying all the beautiful landscapes. This would also allow me to fly beyond the Midwest and enjoy other region’s landscapes and their weather.
